Maguindanao massacre suspect’s wife slain
MANILA, Philippines—The pregnant wife of one of the accused in the 2009 Maguindanao Massacre case was shot dead in Taguig City on Aug. 19, shortly after she visited her husband at the Quezon City Jail annex in Camp Bagong Diwa, also in Taguig.
Bing Guadil, 27, wife of Omar Kayansang, was shot four times by a lone gunman as she was getting off a tricycle on Meralco Street, Lower Bicutan, at around 5:30 p.m.
It was only on Friday that police established that she was related to one of the accused in the gruesome election-related killings that left 57 people dead, including 31 media workers.
Guadil, who was three months pregnant and listed in police records as a cosmetics dealer, was then travelling with a female companion who was not hurt in the shooting.
City police chief Senior Supt. Tomas Apolinario said investigators had yet to pinpoint suspects and determine whether the attack was linked to the multiple murder case. Jaymee T. Gamil
