Fire razes Cremdec building
A SATURDAY night fire burned a building inside the Cremdec compound in the mountain barangay of Taptap, Cebu City.
The one story building which housed the CREMDEC administrative office and the barangay’s health and Gender and Development (GAD) offices was already destroyed by the fire when the firetrucks from barangays Pari-an and Sambag 1 arrived.
According to the Cebu City government website, Cremdec in barangay Taptap is about 24 kilometers from the Cebu City proper.
Leo Maglasang, executive director of the Hilly Land Management, said that aside from the building, the fire also destroyed 10 computers, two television sets, an LCD projector and a printer.
Security Guard Glericio Sardoncillo told investigators that there was an explosion from the health center and the fire immediately spread through the other offices at 10:20 p.m.
He then called the fire station for help. The fire trucks arrived at past 11 p.m.
