7th Thirsty Badminton Cup opens
SOME OF THE BEST badminton players converge at the Metrosports Center today for the start of the 7th Thirsty Badminton Cup.
A total of 220 have enlisted for the tournament, including some of the more noted former varsity players and smashers from different teams from around the region.
The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m.
The tournament will offer C, D, E and F classes for men and women. Players will be divided into two divisions, the smoothies and the shakers, which will be for 40-above smashers.
According to organizers, all 12 courts at the Metrosports Center will be used for this tournament.
Former varsity players Jed Sumalinog, Christian Santino and other former varsities from the University of San Jose Recoletos and the University of Visayas will be joining the tournament.
Cash prizes and medals will be given to the top three placers in each level. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
