/ 11:00 PM August 17, 2012

Two men were killed after their motorcycle crashed into a tree on a center island late Thursday night in Quezon City.

Bernito Rance, 31, and Alvin Catillo, 21, sustained fatal injuries even though they were wearing helmets, according to traffic investigator PO3 Radindranath Sierra.

The victims, both shoemakers and residents of Barangay Commonwealth, died on the spot in front of the Jordan Plains Subdivision on Don Mariano Marcos Avenue, Barangay Sta. Monica.

They were speeding on a downward slope on a Kawasaki Rouser at around 11:30 p.m. when the bike lost control and hit the tree. Julie M. Aurelio
