Toda officer killed in QC
An official of a tricycle operators and drivers association (Toda) in Quezon City was shot dead while a teenaged boy was injured by two motorcycle-riding gunmen Thursday night.
Ramon Fernando, 55, died before receiving treatment for multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body, while 15-year-old Joseph Suan was hit by a stray bullet in the leg.
Fernando, a resident of Maligaya Park Subdivision, Barangay Pasong Putik in Novaliches, was a former barangay councilman who was serving as a board member of the local Toda.
Witnesses said he was collecting daily contributions from member drivers when the drive-by shooting occurred at around 10:30 p.m. Case investigator PO2 Roldan Cornejo suspected that the attack was related to the victim’s work in the transport group.
Police were checking reports that the victim earlier had an argument with a tricycle owner over the management of the association. Julie M. Aurelio
