Taxi driver shot dead, robbed in Manila
A taxi driver was found lying face down in a pool of his own blood beside his vehicle in Manila Thursday morning.
The police said that Dionilo Orense had been shot once in the forehead by robbers who also took his money and other valuables.
The body of Orense, a driver of Vilma O. Bell taxi cab, was found on A. Linao corner Esguerra Street in Malate, Manila, around 1:30 a.m. by residents in the area, Senior Police Officer 2 Glenzor Antonio Vallejo said.
They immediately informed barangay officials who reported the incident to the Malate police.
“Several onlookers milling around the place of incident were interviewed but nobody could give details about the suspects who were seen running along Esguerra Street,” Vallejo said.
Orense was identified after Jose Hipolito appeared at the police station around 5 a.m. and identified the victim as his codriver. Jamie Marie Elona, INQUIRER.net
