Habal driver killed in robbery
A HABAL-HABAL driver was killed in his third encounter with robbers in barangay Quiot, Cebu City.
Vergilio Limpio, Jr., 25, was shot in the back by two robbers who posed as passengers past 3 a.m. last Saturday.
Police said Limpio had been robbed twice in the past.
Police said it was possible that Limpio fought back with the thieves in last Saturday’s incident.
Police said the robbers took Limpio Honda XRM motorcycle worth P56,000 and his silver necklace worth P2, 000.
Police said the motorcycle had a ‘for registration’ plate.

MAN FOUND HANGING DEAD
A 46-YEAR-OLD man who had been suffering from a nervous breakdown was found hanging dead from a tree in barangay Bonbon, Aloguinsan town, southern Cebu.
Pedro Aparicio was found with a rope looped around his neck and the other end tied to a branch of a molave tree.
Police said it was the man’s neighbors Rosalinda Bayadog and Marlen Obtina who found the man dead while they were gathering seashells in sitio Camarin past 10 a.m. yesterday.
There were no signs of foul play in the man’s death, said police.
Dr. Lyndon Villegas, the town’s health officer, said the man died due to respiratory failure and asphyxia by hanging.
The man’s wife Fe, told police that Pedro left their house past 9 a.m. last Friday to gather grass to feed their goats and carabaos.
Pedro did not return home since then.

MAN SHOT IN LAPU, HURT
A 23-YEAR-OLD man was shot and wounded by an unidentified man in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Marcos Abelger was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital with a gunshot wound in the face. He was later moved to a hospital in Cebu City.
Police said Abelger was shot while standing in a dark portion of a road in sitio San Roque at 1:30 a.m. last Saturday.
A wounded Abelger ran and sought help from friends near the area.
