Defense allows La Salle to end losing skid
THE LA SALLE Green Archers snapped a three-game losing streak after they used their stifling defense to hold the Adamson Soaring Falcons without a point in the final 2:38 of the game for a 56-52 win in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Making the win more impressive was that La Salle did it without LA Revilla, who injured his ankle in the game and did not return.
The Falcons were up, 52-49, after baskets by Jericho Cruz and Roider Cabrera. However, that proved to be their last scores as Yutien Andrada and Jeron Teng made baskets to give La Salle a slim lead.
Then, Andrada made another basket while Jed Manguerra stole the ball off an inbound play by Adamson, which led to a freethrow by Teng.
Teng finished with 15 points while Norbert Torres had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
