Red Lions face off with rival Stags

THE REIGNING champions San Beda Red Lions and the San Sebastian Stags tangle for the lead in the standings in a rematch of last year’s championships today in the 88th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.

The Red Lions are slightly ahead of the Stags in the standings as they own a 6-1 (win-loss) record compared to San Sebastian’s 6-2 card.

San Beda has the momentum going into today’s match as they have won four straight games while the Stags are coming off a 54-61 loss at the hands of the Mapua Cardinals.

Two more contenders to the crown will be facing off today as the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers (6-2) tangle with the Letran Knights (4-3) in the first game.

The Knights are currently in limbo as to the status of  Raymund Almazan, who has missed the team’s activities in the last week. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
