House suspends work for Wednesday but…
MANILA, Philippines – Amid the relentless rains and massive floods that have displaced many people in Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces, the House of Representatives announced Tuesday that it has also suspended work on Wednesday.
House Public Relations and Information Bureau executive director Bernadette dela Cuesta relayed on Tuesday afternoon House secretary general Marilyn Barua-Yap’s announcement, saying that the suspension of work will enable lawmakers to visit and undertake coordinated relief assistance and rehabilitation operations in their respective districts.
But work for its secretariat will continue, clarified Yap.
The House has earlier suspended work due to Tuesday’s bad weather.
Lawmakers were supposed to deliberate on the proposed 2013 budget of the Department of Energy and the Department of Labor and Employment.
Proposed budget for the Department of Tourism and the Judiciary, which were supposed to be scrutinized Wednesday, will also have to be moved to another date.
