Man drowns in Manila

MANILA, Philippines—A man drowned in Manila flood Tuesday afternoon amid the onslaught of torrential rains that has been battering Metro Manila and other Luzon provinces since Monday.

The victim was identified as Hanibal Baitec, 45, of Legarda, Manila.
Armida de la Cruz, chief nurse of De Ocampo Memorial Medical Center in Sta. Mesa, Manila, said the victim was declared dead on arrival at 5:15 p.m.
The victim was repairing his jeep when a jack fell from the back of the jeep, pinning him in the flood water unconscious.
