Gunman fires at car of TV network voice talent in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines – A television network voice talent was wounded by shattered glass after a gunman fired before noon Sunday at his car window while his vehicle was parked in Quezon City.
Christian Velarde, 33, a dubber for several anime shows of the ABS-CBN network, of Meycauayan, Bulacan, sustained cuts in the cheek and chin as well as several abrasions after pieces of broken glass flew towards his face. He was not hit by the bullet that had been fired at his car.
Senior Police Officer 1 John Sales, of the Quezon City Police District’s Kamuning station, said that the incident happened at around 11 a.m. inside the parking lot of the ELJ Building of the ABS-CBN Compound on Mother Ignacia Avenue in Barangay South Triangle.
Sales revealed that before the incident, Velarde was about to drive home when a single gunshot rang out. The car window on the driver’s seat suddenly shattered, most of the shards hitting the dubber on the face. He was brought to the network’s clinic for treatment.
The case investigator pointed out that nobody saw the shooter who fired the shot but said that a deformed slug from a still undetermined gun was recovered at the site of the shooting.
