Man shoots self in front of partner
A 49-year-old freelance legal researcher was critically wounded after he shot himself in the head in front of his live-in partner in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
Police said the couple were arguing when the man drew a gun and shot himself past midnight yesterday.
Police said the man (name withheld) was believed to be drunk when he arrived home.
The man nagged his live-in partner, who tried to calm him down.
The man became more violent and started destroying some things inside the house.
The man also confronted the woman about some text messages from an unregistered person that he found in his partner’s cell phone.

Article continues after this advertisementThe argument turned for the worse when the man drew a .38 revolver from his waist and shot himself.
The man was brought to the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital. He was later moved to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Police recovered a .38 revolver with an empty shell and five bullets on top of a refrigerator in the kitchen of the couple’s house.
PO3 Lou Pagara of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said the man had health problems.
