Weather bureau forecasters are looking forward to sunnier working conditions after Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo promised to return their suspended employee benefits.

Employees of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) earlier railed against the suspension of their magna carta benefits, which they said played a crucial role in helping them get by financially.

In a statement, Ramon Agustin of the Philippine Weathermen Employees Association (PWEA) said Montejo personally assured him during a press briefing over the weekend that the benefits would be given back to Pagasa employees.

Montejo said the employees could expect to receive the benefits in August, including those that they were supposed to receive since March. Leila B. Salaverria
