Mabaw reef guard house, patrol boat inaugurated
JUNE 28 marked another milestone for the Mabaw Reef Pride Campaign when its twin guard house and patrol boat projects were blessed and inaugurated at Kijaw in barangay Ubujan, Tagbilaran City.
Jovenal Edquilag, a Rare conservation fellow, said Fr. Armand Bayron officiated the blessing and Mass at 9 a.m.
A short program followed with Ubujan barangay captain Timoteo Maglahus giving the opening remarks.
Tagbilaran City Vice Mayor Nuevas Tirol-Montes, together with Councilors Nerio Zamora II, Doni Piquero and Genesyl Balbin, and city administrator Ed Macalandag graced the affair. Fishermen from barangays Ubujan and Taloto were also present.
The guard house was constructed by the Tagbilaran city government in October 2011 to support the Mabaw Reef Pride campaign.
Rare funded the expansion phase of the project, as well as the patrol boat under the small grants project.
