House suspends work due to widespread flooding

/ 02:49 PM July 03, 2012

MANILA, Philippines — House Secretary General Marilyn Barua-Yap on Tuesday said that work at the House of Representatives was suspended Tuesday due to bad weather.

The announcement came at 2 p.m., unlike with the Senate, whose suspension of work was announced in the morning.

Heavy rains have not abated since it started Monday night, flooding some streets in the metropolis and rendering some roads impassable.

Classes have also been suspended in various schools in the metro in several provinces. Karen Boncocan
