MANILA, Philippines – Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, first cousin of President Benigno Aquino III being considered for the party’s senatorial ticket, was qualified but would bear the burden of expectations come 2013 midterm elections, a member of the Liberal Party (LP) on Tuesday said.

Marikina City Representative Miro Quimbo told reporters during a press briefing that he believed that the young Aquino possessed qualities which would make him fit in with LP.

At the same time, however, these accomplishments could become Bam Aquino’s burden as he would be expected to do well as part of LP.

“Mabigat ang nasa balikat niyang burden dahil marami na siyang na-accomplish… baka mabigat ang ineexpect sa kanya, but that is all up to LP kung magiging bahagi siya nito [He carries a burden on his shoulders because of what he has accomplished . . . expectations may be high, but that is all up to LP if he would be part of it].”

“Pero para sa akin akma siya sa hangarin ng LP [But as far as I’m concerned, he is fit for the ideals of LP].”
