MANILA, Philippines — A passenger cooling room will be set up at every Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) station starting May 4, amid the continued hot and humid weather across the country.

In a Facebook post on Friday, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said the passenger cooling room will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
It also said all LRT-2 passengers or valid ticket holders experiencing heat exhaustion — such as dizziness, headaches, or any discomfort caused by heat — may use the cooling room, but senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant passengers will still be prioritized.
“To ensure that all those in need are given the opportunity, the stay inside the cooling room has a set time of 30 minutes to one hour per passenger,” the LRTA said in Filipino.
All passengers using the room must sign the logbook upon entry and exit for record-keeping.

The LRTA also noted that passengers using the cooling room may be accompanied by someone to assist them.
However, it stressed that the Passenger Cooling Room is “not a hangout room.”
“It should only be used when necessary to give other passengers a chance to temporarily rest,” the LRTA said in Filipino.
The LRTA also said passengers who suffer heat exhaustion may also go directly to its clinic. /mcm /atm
