QCPD: 2 nabbed over P1,500 ‘gas-and-run’ case

MANILA, Philippines — Two individuals were arrested for allegedly refueling a white Toyota Vios and fleeing without paying for P1,500 worth of fuel at a gas station, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Tuesday.
Identified by the aliases “Tyron” and “Ricky,” the two suspects were arrested at their respective homes in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Monday night, according to a QCPD statement.
Land Transportation Office (LTO) records of the Toyota Vios led police investigators to a Taguig resident with the alias “Nerisse” at her home, a National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) police report showed.

It added that Nerisse bared that she had allegedly sold the car in 2021 to a certain “Christian,” also a resident of Rodriguez, Rizal.
When police investigators tracked down Christian to his home, he claimed he had lent the car to Tyron, who was identified only as his friend, according to the QCPD.
The police did not immediately say when Christian allegedly lent Tyron the Toyota Vios.
The QCPD added that a third suspect, whom it identified with the alias “Botchoy,” was still being pursued by police.
The police did not detail how the three men were related or their alleged roles in the incident.
However, the QCPD noted that Tyron was previously arrested for serious physical injuries in connection with an incident at a gas station in Rodriguez, Rizal, in February 2017, while Botchoy had previous records for drug-related charges in July 2017 and frustrated murder in February 2020.
“The arrested suspects will be charged with estafa and referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings, while authorities continue efforts to locate and apprehend ‘Botchoy,’” the QCPD said.
The white Toyota Vios was caught on security footage refueling at a gas station along Payatas Road in Barangay Payatas before fleeing early Monday morning.
The car was last seen heading toward Litex in Barangay Commonwealth. /mcm
