Highway Patrol Group confiscates 300 fake licenses a month

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group said they confiscate an average of 300 fake driver’s license every month.

Superintendent Edwin Butacan, HPG spokesman, in an interview with co-anchors Ricky Brozas and Liza Soriano of “Isyu ng Bayan,” said there’s a separate syndicate that handles this fake licensing racket, in relation to organized crime groups that handle carnapping.

He urged the public not to succumb to these illegal transactions. He told them to undergo the right process in getting driver’s license so as to discourage these rogue operators.

“Those who are in a hurry and want a quick way to get their license, please find time and deal with the right people,” he said.

In another development, he said the rate of carnapping incidents in the country has dropped to 29 per cent.
