Gun runner busted
POLICE arrested a suspected illegal gun runner during a buy-bust operation in barangay Tay-Tay, Danao City on Saturday.
Police handcuffed Generoso “Gian” Libot-Libot, 41, after he sold an illegal firearm to a police decoy. Police confiscated 9 .45 caliber pistols and 10 357 caliber revolvers worth at least P125,000.
The firearms were found inside the house of Libot-Libot, said Supt. Rodulfo Albutro, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch.
Libot-Libot denied owning the guns. He said he was just a water delivery boy and wasn’t involved in any illegal activities.
He said he was just at home when authorities arrived to arrest him.

JAIL guards at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) confiscated at least 11 cell phones from inmates last Saturday.
Jail warden Romeo Manansala said the contraband was found in corridors or were personally handed over by inmates.
Manansala said the search operations inside the jail were done every Saturday.
He said those who would be caught in possession of contraband would not be allowed to go out of their prison cells for three weeksor a week as punishment, depending on the jail warden’s decision.
Other prohibited items in the jail were guns, ammunition, cigarettes, illegal drugs, and appliances./Reporter Ador Vincent S. Mayol
Pet shop robbed
TWO men robbed a pet shop in Duterte Street, Cebu City shortly before noon yesterday and fled with P7,500 in shop proceeds.
Analyn Calidkid, the shop’s cashier, told police that the robber pretended to be a customer who wanted to buy a bottle of pet shampoo.
He said one of the robbers was armed with a pistol. /Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
