Lanao Sur poll fraud whistle-blower Dalidig dead
OZAMIZ CITY—2004 election fraud whistle-blower Hadji Lacs Dalidig is dead.
Abul Alibasa and Samira Gutoc Tomawis, Dalidig’s colleagues in the civil society group Reform ARMM Now, said Dalidig died yesterday noon.
Dalidig is known to have suffered from diabetes.
Alibasa and Gutoc said Dalidig’s remains will be taken to the lakeside town of Balindong, Lanao del Sur province, for burial.
Dalidig blew the lid off cases of massive cheating and vote-buying in Lanao del Sur in the 2004 presidential elections that resulted in the controversial victory of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo over actor Fernando Poe Jr.
Dalidig’s exposés barely made it to national news media until the “Hello Garci” scandal broke out.
