Sogod town, DILG ink deal
THE municipality of Sogod in northern Cebu and the Department of Interior and Local Government in Central Visayas (DILG-7) recently signed an agreement for the water project under the Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat program (Salintubig).
Sogod town Mayor Lissa Marie Durano and DILG-7 Regional Director Ananias Villacorta signed the agreement recently, which was witnessed by DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.
The Salintubig is a grant given to local government units awarded with the Seal of Good Housekeeping.
Mayor Durano said the project will benefit the people in the town, especially farmers.
She said the improvement of the water system in the town will be of big help to them.
Aside from the Salintubig grant, the municipality also got local government support fund of P700,000, which was used in the road project.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Salintubig program, which will run until 2016, will increase water services to the waterless community by 50 percent, reduce incidence of water-borne and sanitation related diseases by 20 percent and improve access of the poor to sanitation services by 10 percent.
An amount of P7 million was allocated by the program for the implementation of water project in Sogod.
