POULTRY WORKER FOUND DEAD
A CARETAKER of a poultry farm was found hanging dead a day after he threatened to commit suicide in barangay Maricaban, Sta Fe town, northern Cebu.
Benjie Ardenio was found suspended from a narra tree with a nylon rope tied around his neck.
Police said it was the man’s neighbor Jay Alvin Anciano who discovered the body when he passed in front of Ardenio’s house around 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Police said that last Wednesday night, Ardenion had a drinking session with neighbors where he reportedly threatened that he would commit suicide after his 16-year-old live-in partner left him./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL AND CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
OFF-DUTY COP NABS ROBBER
Article continues after this advertisementAN off-duty policeman arrested a man who allegedly robbed a 16-year-old student at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
Article continues after this advertisementPO2 Alvin Hiroi, a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics-Cebu City, caught William Gingoyon in the act of robbing a male first year college student.
Police said Gingoyon had two other companions identified as Rommel and Baho, who were able to elude arrest.
Police said Hiroi was driving a car with his son on board when he noticed a commotion inside a passenger jeepney on S. Osmeña Street past 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Hiroi saw the fleeing Gingoyon and fired a warning shot.
Hiroi chased Gingoyon and eventually cornered him.
Police said the student’s cell phone, a knife and drug-sniffing paraphernalia were recovered from Gingoyon, 22.
Police said Gingoyon had just been released from jail on theft charges.

3 UGANDAN NATIONALS NABBED
THREE female Ugandan nationals were arrested by police after they allegedly refused to pay their taxi fare in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City early morning yesterday.
Police said Lei Betty, 19, Lai Broni, 22, and Precious Kumabusaw, 20, medical students of a university in Cebu City, were drunk during the incident.
Police said the three women came from a beer house in barangay Banilad, Cebu City and asked to be brought to Urgello Street where they temporarily live.
The three women and Felix Tukbong, 33, driver of Funky Taxi, argued when the driver asked for additional pay after one of the women vomited inside the taxi.
The driver brought the three women at the Subangdaku police precicnt. Police said the three women were rowdy at the police station.
The three women ran while being investigated but police chased them and brought them back to the police station, said Insp. Ramil Morpos, Subangdaku police chief.
Morpos said the three women tested positive for alcohol use at the Mandaue City Hospital.
The three foreigners later agreed to pay the driver P2,000 as settlement.
