MANILA, Philippines — After a few days’ delay following system issues, the student Beep cards with an automatic 50 percent discount are already available in all the stations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 starting this Saturday.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez led the launching of the “on-the-spot” printing of the Beep cards at the LRT-2 Legarda Station earlier this Saturday.

In his speech, Marcos noted that the printing of the Beep cards for students, along with the ones for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, will only take three minutes to five minutes.

“The processing has been expedited. Now it only takes 3 minutes. After printing, they can use that (white beep card). I told the students, you no longer have an excuse to be late,” Marcos quipped, as cited in a Department of Transportation (DOTr) statement.

The launching of the student Beep cards was originally on September 15 but was postponed to September 20 due to “system issues.”
