ERMITA SHOOTING

Two men were shot dead in separate incidents in  Cebu City and the southern town of San Fernando.

No witnesses came forward to describe how 42-year-old  Enarciso Antopina was shot dead while walking along Calderon Street in barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

Paramedics tried but failed to revive him.

FEATURED STORIES

The gunman fled after shooting  Antopino in the head.  Police said the victim was a collector of masiao.

In barangay Pitalo, San Fernando town, a 47-year-old carpenter was shot dead while having an afternoon nap.

Jessie Cabahug, who is separated from his wife, was brought to a hospital but did not make it alive.

Police said the victim went home from Naga City after he and his employer,  Tomas Abangan, argued. The employer learned that Cabahug was having an affair with his sister.

Police said the victim was taking a nap in his brother-in-law’s store when he was shot.

Before he left Naga, he  also had a fistfight with Abangan’s drive.

Abangan and the driver will be invited for questioning, said police./chito aragon, gabriel bonjoc

BROTHERS STAB MAN

A 25-year-old man was stabbed dead in the chest after a  drinking spree in barangay Camugaw, Pinamungajan town, southwest Cebu, yesterday.

Jimmy Tanocos died instantly.

Police said the victim was on his way home when he was attacked by  two  brothers Jason, 20, and Eddie Gallardo, 33.

Before the violence, the three were drinking and argued about an old grudge.

Tanocos decided to leave to avoid trouble.  While walking home, he was confronted by the two brothers.   Eddie allegedly held him while Jason stabbed him with a 44-inch scythe in  the chest.

Police arrested the suspects in their home./gabriel bonjoc

WANTED MAN FALLS

A 53-year-old man wanted for parricide was arrested by police Friday evening in Lapu-Lapu City.

Santos Cosep of barangay Bangkal  was served with a warrant of arrest issued by  Regional Trial Court Judge Victor Teves of Branch 54 for the murder of his  wife five years ago.

Police said the suspect, who was partly  paralyzed after suffering a stroke,  went into hiding after the  2007 crime. The suspect is now detained at the Lapu-Lapu police precinct./NORMAN V. MENDOZA

AMERICAN FOUND DEAD

A 52-year-old American was found dead at home  in barangay Antipolo, Tuburan town, northwest Cebu, on Wednesday.

Richard Satayn was brought by his wife Ernmina to the Balamban District Hospital after she found him lying unconscious on the floor. Police said Ermina suspected her husband died of a heart attack. /gabriel bonjoc
