Cop may have tampered his drug test sample
Eight Cebu City policemen face dismissal after their initial drug test results were confirmed to show positive use of illegal drugs.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, regional police director, said they are checking a report that one policeman in the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) cheated the exam.
Garbo said the policeman may have tampered or switched his urine sample.
The eight initially tested positive for drug use during a May 2 surprise exam. Their urine specimens were submitted for another round of confirmatory tests.
Seven were confirmed positive for drug use. However, crime laboratory operatives discovered what looked like a manipulation of the specimen of an eighth subject.
Garbo ordered the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) 7 to investigate further. RIDMD-7 said they have subjected all eight to precharge proceedings, which could lead to dismissal from the service.
