Mandaue police to launch own band
WITH a new set of musical instruments, the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) prepares to launch their own band to promote a more wholesome image of law enforcers.
Policemen each contributed P200 to P300 cash to buy musical instruments worth P162,500. Other instruments were donated from other sources.
“Through our music, mausab ang negative nga panan-aw sa mga tawo sa kapulisan. We’re also doing this because there are a lot of talented policemen,” Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, city police director, said.
As they are willing to play in any event for free, Gillamac said their band will also make them closer to the community.
The band will join the Philippine National Police (PNP) Got Talent contest this month. The band instructor is Reynold Mijares, a musician from Cebu City.
The band is composed of Sr. Insp. Meche Gabod and Police Officers 1 Adryan Aton and Glenn dela Torre Besande as vocalists, Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac, PO1 Jessie James Galo and PO2 Ricardo Petiluna as drummers, Supt. James Goforth as keyboardist, PO3 Roberto Neri as lead guitarist, PO2 Llenado Silas as bass guitarist and NUP Carlos Gucotano as rhythm guitarist. REPORTER Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
