Marinduque woman drowns after being swept away by strong floodwaters

In Marinduque, a woman drowns after drifting away due to strong floodwaters as their vehicle tried crossing a bridge on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2024. MANILA, Philippines — A woman drowned after drifting away due to strong floodwaters as their vehicle tried crossing a bridge in Marinduque on Christmas Day, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported Saturday.

The PCG did not give the victim’s name but said that her body was found the following day, Dec. 26, at Barangay Hupi in Sta. Cruz, Marinduque town. The bridge is located in nearby Barangay Baliis.

“While trying to exit their vehicle, the female victim was caught by the flood current and carried into the river,” the PCG said in a statement.
