MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday brushed off the disbarment complaints filed against her.

“In Bisaya, ‘puwera bahala’ (whatever happens, happens). Whoever they side with will win. So we’ll strike, and let’s see where it lands,” Duterte said.

Duterte made the pronouncement after anti-poverty czar—and also disbarred lawyer—Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon filed a disbarment complaint against her before the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday.

FEATURED STORIES

Gadon’s disbarment complaint stems from the expletives thrown by Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as well as her threatening to have Marcos, his wife Liza, and cousin House Speaker Martin Romualdez assassinated if she would be killed.

According to Duterte, she has yet to read the complaint that Gadon filed, acknowledging that she knows of other complaints seeking her disbarment.

The disbarment case she’s aware of, Duterte said, is the one filed in 2011, which stemmed from an incident where she assaulted a court sheriff.

“I have not read the two complaints, so I can’t say what’s contained there. I only based it on news reports,” Duterte said in Filipino.

“The first one I based on the SC’s announcement, the other one from Larry Gadon’s,” she added.

The High Court on Tuesday said it received an anonymous complaint seeking the disbarment of Duterte after her remarks of exhuming the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
