Rain prevails in some parts of PH due to northeast monsoon, ITCZ
MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon, or amihan, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring rains to some parts of the country on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a morning weather advisory, state weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains in areas of extreme northern Luzon.
(Due to the effects of the northeast monsoon, we can expect a high chance of cloudy skies and rain in the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, and the Apayao area.)
He added that many parts of Mindanao will also continue to see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

We can expect more areas to receive rain by the afternoon until evening, so we should prepare for potential threats of flooding and landslides, especially if continuous rainfall occurs across much of Mindanao.)
Meanwhile, Villamil said Metro Manila and the rest of the country may expect brief rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms, but fair weather will prevail.

Pagasa did not raise a gale warning in any of the country’s major seaboards on Monday morning.
“However, extra caution is still advised for our fellow citizens who will be sailing, especially in the coastal waters of northern Luzon, as moderate to rough sea conditions are still possible in the area,” Villamil said in Filipino.
