Pulse Asia: VP Duterte’s trust rating down by 10 points

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating fell by 10 percent in the latest Pulse Asia survey, but her score is still 11 percent higher than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Pulse Asia’s September 2024 Nationwide Survey said that 61 percent of respondents trusted Duterte, 50 percent had the same feeling for Marcos.

Marcos recorded 22 percent “small to no trust” rating among respondents while 28 percent remain undecided.

Duterte, on the other hand, had 17 percent of pollees deeming her untrustworthy while 22 percent of them could not decide.

Meanwhile, Senate President Chiz Escudero had 56 percent trust rating among respondents, eight percent “small to no trust” rating while 35 percent of them were undecided. House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez also had 31 percent approval rating among participants, 25 percent disapproval while 44 percent of them could not decide.

While still enjoying a higher trust rating than Marcos, Duterte’s approval suffered the second highest dip among top government officials compared to last June 2024 survey.

Previously, Duterte had a trust rating of 71 percent, which is now down to 61.

Escudero’s trust rating was at 69 percent last time, compared to 56 percent with a 13-point difference, which is the highest rating slump among top government officials.

Marcos’ trust rating, on the other hand, only decreased by two points from 52 percent last time to 50 percent now.

Also Romualdez’s trust rating was only down four percent: from 35 percent previously to 31 percent at present.

Pulse Asia’s nationwide survey is based on a sample of 2,400 representative adults 18 years old and above, with a ±2% margin of error and 95 percent confidence level.
