Quiboloy pleads not guilty to child abuse cases

MANILA, Philippines — Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy pleaded not guilty to the child and sexual abuse cases filed against him before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Friday.

“Quiboloy and other accused pleaded not guilty,” said Quiboloy’s legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon in a brief ambush interview.

His co-accused were Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Paulene Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes.

Earlier in the day, Quiboloy and his co-accused also entered a not guilty plea for their qualified human trafficking cases filed at the Pasig RTC.

It was the first time that he appeared personally in court.

Article continues after this advertisement Meanwhile, the arraignment at the Quezon City RTC was conducted online.

Quiboloy is currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame in Quezon City following his arrest in the KJC compound in Davao City last Sunday, September 8.

Quiboloy and the other respondents surrendered after the PNP’s 24-hour “ultimatum,” PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said.
