P100T stolen on jeepney ride

An  auditor of a pawnshop said he lost P100,000 while he was riding a jeepney in Fuente Osmeña, Cebu City.

The plastic bag containing bundles of cash was slashed.

Weny Yap Dino, 28, of barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, said he was delivering the cash  to various branches yesterday.

Dino and a co-worker came from Ayala Center and rode a jeepney for Fuente Osmeña.

Dino said the cash was placed in a plastic bag, which he tucked under his arm.

Dino said it was his co-worker who noticed that the bag was slashed. That’s when they discovered the money was missing.

Dino said he suspected that two passengers who sat beside him, a man and a woman, were responsible for the theft but he couldn’t trace them anymore.

In a separate incident, a 39-year-old woman complained to the police that the money sent by her sister-in-law from Britain through a money remittance company was stolen.

The amount of 500 pounds or about P34,000 was received by someone else last Wednesday.

The name of Ariel Degamo, carataker of their apartment, was found in the receipt.

Degamo was brought to the theft and robbery section of the Cebu City Police Office for questioning.  He denied receiving the money.

Degamo presented his Social Security System ID to prove that the signature  in the  receipt was not his.

The  case will be investigated further, said SPO1 Aldong Labating.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said her sister-in-law sent the money  for the two-month rent of her apartment in barangay Apas, Cebu City.
