The groundbreaking ceremony for the two remaining areas of the Roxas Boulevard Promenade in Pasay City was held on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines — The groundbreaking ceremony for the two remaining areas of the Roxas Boulevard Promenade in Pasay City was held on Thursday.

The promenade is part of the broader “Adopt-a-Park” initiative in Pasay City, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Located between the Libertad Pumping Station and the intersection of Edsa and Roxas Boulevard, the Roxas Boulevard Promenade encompasses about 1.7 hectares and is composed of four areas: Area 1 for satellite offices, Area 2 for a light park, Area 3 for an active park zone, and Area 4 for parking and play areas.

Present at the groundbreaking ceremony for Areas 3 and 4 were MMDA acting chairman Don Artes, Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Acuzar, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, and Federal Land Inc. Chairman Alfred Ty.

Areas 1 and 2 were unveiled to members of the press afterward.

According to the MMDA, the Roxas Boulevard Promenade represents a “significant step towards enhancing urban livability” by transforming a “once neglected area into a vibrant community space.”

It added that the project not only showcases the potential for collaborative efforts between the government and private sectors but also “highlights the importance of creating dynamic and inclusive public spaces.”
