DSWD: 91 PWDs graduate from vocational training

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Saturday that 91 persons with disabilities (PWDs) have completed their social and vocational training at its National Vocational Training Center.

According to the DSWD, the graduates have shown resilience and growth which will help them in their challenges.

“This milestone is a testament to their perseverance in overcoming challenges and their unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth. Each graduate embodies the spirit of resilience, complementing that with hard work, determination, and support, any obstacle can be overcome,” DSWD Assistant Secretary Elaine Fallarcuna said on Friday.

During the training, the trainees underwent several courses in different fields, such as housekeeping and janitorial services, computer training, massage and beauty, and food preparation, among others.

“It provides a learning environment that enables persons with disabilities to return to their communities as better individuals in terms of making decisions, articulating their ideas, relating to people, and improving economic conditions,” Fallarcuna added.

The DSWD also said it will continue to support the PWD sectors in the country.

“As these graduates embark on the next chapter of their lives, the DSWD, through the NVRC, reaffirms our commitment to creating inclusive and accessible opportunities for all individuals,” she added.
