MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Tuesday that a Facebook page which alleged to give a scholarship under its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) is fake.

According to the Dole, the TUPAD program was not a scholarship program, but was instead an employment program.

“The TUPAD Program is not a cash or scholarship grant assistance for students. This is a public employment program that gives temporary jobs for disadvantaged workers 18 years or older,” DOLE said in an advisory.

The post was from a Facebook page named “Philippines Scholarship” and claimed that students can receive cash assistance of P7,000 to P8,000.

“All are advised to report to Facebook these kinds of posts and public pages, and to consult the proper office of DOLE if they have any questions or clarifications regarding its services and programs,” it added.
