PAF gears up for anniversary celebration, holds outreach
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) team based in the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base (MBEAB) brought cheers to the orphans, deaf-mutes and some military dependents at MBEAB kiddies park by giving them free school bags and food treating them to games during the weekend.
It was in preparation for the Air Force’s 65th founding annniversary celebration on July 1. It was also in line with the project of PAF Commanding General Lauro Catalino dela Cruz that aims to foster good relationship between the PAF personnel, their children and selected orphans in the community with the theme, “Handog saya sa kabataan, dulot ay pag-asa ng bayan.”
The team selected the children from Christ Faith Childrens Home and the more than 30 deaf-mute children from Naga Special Education Center (NSEC) as their beneficiaries.
“This is a simultaneous activity with Manila PAF,” said Maj. Reynaldo Gabinete PAF 2nd Air Division public information officer.
John Paul Ecarma Maunes, program manager of Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme Inc., said the activity aimed to help the deaf-mutes enjoy their life, experience humanity and experience equal opportunity in life.
PAF became a separate military service on July 1, 1947, when President Manuel Roxas issued Executive Order No. 94.
