Cops arrest social media personality Diwata for slight physical injuries

MANILA, Philippines — Social media personality “Diwata,” whose real name is Deo Jarito Balbuena, was arrested in Pasay City on Tuesday morning for a case of slight physical injuries, according to police.

In a report on Thursday, the Pasay City police disclosed that its operatives served a warrant of arrest against the person behind the “Diwata Pares” street food stall along Diokno Boulevard in Barangay 76.

Police said his arrest warrant was issued by Presiding Judge Allan Ariola of Pasay City Metropolitan Trial Court dated October 2, 2018 with a recommended bail of P3,000.

Based on police records, the incident involving Diwata and complainant identified as Rogelio Magallanes, a construction worker, occurred on May 5, 2018 under the bridge of Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City.

Police said Magallanes was resting under the Diokno Bridge when Balbuena arrived and “caused a commotion” in the area.

Their confrontation is said to have escalated.

The 42-year-old social media personality allegedly hit Magallanes’ head with a bamboo stick.

The complainant reportedly sustained injuries on his head as a result.

Magallanes filed a complaint at the city prosecutor’s office.
