SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Subic announced on Wednesday, April 3, that it exceeded its collection target for March by more than three percent.

In a statement, the Port of Subic said it achieved a “positive deviation” of 3.73 percent for March, which was equivalent to a surplus of P196.61 million.

Due to this surplus, the port officials said they exceeded the set target of P5.268 billion for that month. The actual March collection was P5.464 billion.

The port also announced that it collected P15.207 billion as against its target of P14.343 billion, resulting in a 6.03 percent surplus for the first quarter of the year.

According to the agency, the March performance was achieved under the stewardship of former Subic Port District Collector Ciriaco Ugay.

Its new head, lawyer Ricardo U. Morales II, who assumed the post this week, said it was a result of “the collective efforts of our team.”

“We are dedicated to maintaining this momentum and further enhancing our services for the benefit of our stakeholders and the nation,” Morales said as he vowed to continue achieving the high standard for operational excellence and fiscal responsibility of the agency. INQ
