MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook Davao Occidental early Tuesday morning, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the earthquake was located five kilometers southwest of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental and was recorded at exactly 5:15 a.m.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 169 kilometers.

Phivolcs said no damage is expected due to the quake, but aftershocks are forecast to occur.
