MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid temperatures will continue to prevail over the country on Tuesday, with chances of rain due to the easterlies, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Asahan may kainitan pa rin ‘yung mga temperatura [sa bansa] lalong lalo na pagdating ng tanghali — maximum temperatures dito sa Metro Manila na posibleng umabot ng 33 celsius,” said Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres.

However, Torres said occasional light rain resulting from the effects of the easterlies (or warm wind coming from the direction of the Pacific Ocean) may occur in some parts of the country.

“Posible makaapekto ang easterlies dito sa may silangang bahagi ng Northern at Central Luzon so may mga posibilidad din po na kalat kalat na pagulan although mahihina lamang,” said Torres.

(The easterlies could potentially affect the eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon, so there are also possibilities of scattered showers, although they may be relatively light.)

A cluster of clouds will also bring rain over the eastern section of Mindanao despite the sweltering heat, while the rest of the country will experience generally fair weather but with chances of isolated rain showers in the afternoon and evening.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday are as follows:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 16 to 25 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 21 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is currently raised over the country’s seaboards, with only light to moderate wave conditions forecast in the Philippines’ surrounding coasts and in-land seas.
