Village official shot dead in Davao Sur

DIGOS CITY, Philippines — A still unidentified man shot dead a member of the Barangay (village) Poblacion council of Hagonoy, Davao del Sur while the victim was talking to a caller on his mobile phone Tuesday evening, the police said.

Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Llanera, Davao del Sur police chief, said village councilor Allan Molina, 42, was at a kiosk fronting his house when attacked around 7:45 p.m.

Llanera said the victim was hit on the left portion of his neck and died instantly.

He said an investigation was still ongoing to determine motive in the attack and identify the assailant.
