Conflict of interest seen in Aquino support for Angara son
MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s endorsement of Congressman Sonny Angara for the mid-term elections in 2013 may have a conflict of interest, the camp of Chief Justice Corona was quoted as saying on Radyo Inquirer 990AM Wednesday.
Angara, who is on the prosecution panel for the House of Representatives, is being considered as one of the senatorial candidates for the administration.
Angara is the son of Senator Edgardo Angara, who sits as one of the judges in the Senate-turned-impeachment court for Corona’s trial.
Malacanang said that they did not see the President stopping in his campaign for his Liberal Party candidates.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said that it has been the attitude of the president to be frank and open about his views on different issues and personalities.
