1,457 cops deployed for Chinese New Year revelry

The Philippine National Police said it has deployed 1,457 police officers around Metro Manila for the observance of the Chinese New Year in Manila.

Of the total, around 200 were assigned to ensure security for the 12-minute fireworks display at Binondo-Intramuros on Feb. 9, while 400 would be deployed for the solidarity parade on Feb. 10.

Some 200 police officers would be manning law enforcement checkpoints starting Feb. 8. The nearly 1,500 police would be on duty until Feb. 15. —FRANCES MANGOSING
