More than 60 applicants were hired on the spot during the simultaneous job fairs conducted by SM Supermalls nationwide in celebration of Labor Day on May 1.

The hired applicants were among the 1,000 applicants who gathered in SM City Cebu to scout for jobs offered by 40 companies, including SM affiliates, mall tenants and business process outsourcing companies.

Cebu City Councilor Nida Cabrera and Division Chief Nancy Abad of the Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE-7) graced the opening of the job fair at the Cebu Trade Hall.

Abad thanked the SM management for partnering in giving a chance of employment to the community.

Mall manager Sherry Tuvilla said in her welcome remarks that the job fair “is only one of the many ways in which SM Supermalls can do its share to build a nation by providing employment to the people. Employers were brought together in one venue to lessen the inconvenience of job seekers.”
