PH fiestas exhibit at SM

SM City Cebu and the Filipino Heritage Festival Inc. are exhibiting some of the colorful fiestas in the Philippines as part of the festival’s campaign to promote the month of May as Heritage Month.

The month of May was proclaimed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as Heritage Month in 2003 in an effort to raise awareness among the Filipinos on patrimonial heritage and the need to preserve it.

The photo exhibit features the colorful and vivid culture of the Filipino people through fiestas. The fiesta is part of the Filipino culture. It is a lively and colorful testament to the Filipinos’ soul, religiosity, creativity and spiritedness.

It shows photos and descriptions of the different Philippine fiestas such as Ati-Atihan festival in Kalibo, Aklan, the Dinagyang festival in Iloilo City, Kadayawan sa Dabaw in Davao City, Lantern Festival of San Fernando, Pampanga, Sinulog in Cebu City, among others.

The exhibit is located at the third level of the Main Mall (fronting Max’s Fried Chicken) from May 1 to 5.
