Teacher on poll duty dies in Legazpi City road crash

LEGAZPI CITY — A public school teacher who served in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections died in a road accident in this city on Monday.

Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said Amelia Armario, 54, was riding a motorcycle driven by her son, Faustin Andrei, 19, when they figured in a collision with another motorcycle in Barangay Pawa at around 12:4o p.m.

Based on the initial investigation, the motorcycles were traveling in different directions when they collided on the center lane of the road.

Lawyer Maria Juana Valeza, Commission on Elections – Bicol director, said the victim was assigned as the chairman of the electoral board in Barangay Tamaoyan and was about to vote in their village when the incident happened.
