PH files another diplomatic protest against China

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday summoned the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, after Beijing’s latest actions in the West Philippines Sea, according to its spokesperson Tess Daza.

“We’re exercising all actions available to us, that includes summoning the Chinese ambassador, which we did this morning,” Daza said in a press conference.

The United States (US) on Monday reaffirmed its sworn defense treaty with the Philippines, standing in support of Filipinos following China’s incursion in the West Philippine Sea.

Fuel prices to increase by up to P1.30 per liter starting Oct. 24

Local oil companies announced Monday an increase of up to P1.30 per liter in the prices of petroleum products effective Tuesday, Oct. 24.

In separate announcements, the oil firms said the price of gasoline will increase by 95 centavos per liter. Prices of diesel and kerosene will rise by P1.30 and P1.25 per liter, respectively.

LTFRB ‘whistleblower’ Tumbado cited for contempt

Jeff Tumbado, the former Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) employee who accused suspended LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz of being involved in corruption, has been cited for contempt by House of Representatives panel.

During the hearing of House committee on appropriations, Sagip Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta moved that Tumbado be declared in contempt after he changed several of his answers to lawmakers’ questions.
