Hold-uppers stab student
An 18-year old student was stabbed and wounded after he fought off two motorcycle-riding men in North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City, last Friday.
Mario Chan of San Carlos, Negros Occidental, was rushed to the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital after sustaining stab wounds.
Initial police investigation revealed that the 2nd-year radio technician student of Cebu Doctors’ University left the school campus to photocopy documents.
Senior Insp. Ramil Morpos of the Mandaue City Police Office said two men riding a motorcycle stopped and the backrider asked for the time. Chan told the man he has no watch but the backrider disembarked, pulled out a screw driver and declared a holdup.
Morpos said the robber then grabbed the victim’s iPhone but the victim resisted, which prompted the holdupper to stab the victim in the back.
A chase ensued but the man collared the victim and stabbed him again several times in the arms and in the stomach.
